So maybe you’ve been celebrating the holidays with a little too much spirit. (Pun intended.) What can you do when you wake up with a pounding headache or just feel a little bit off? Did you ever consider making a hangover smoothie?

Introducing the Mango Miracle Hangover Smoothie!
Mango Miracle Hangover Smoothie

(Of course not drinking at all is the best option, or even limiting to two drinks, but some even feel hungover with just two drinks, particularly if you’re a woman over 40…sorry ladies!)

Do yourself a favor and skip the greasy fries and burger. Trust me you will feel worse about that later. Instead, now is the time to reset and get back on track! You need to hydrate because hangovers are caused by a lack of hydration. My sugar-free and dairy-free hangover smoothie features electrolyte-filled coconut water, mango, avocado, and spinach.

One of the most important ingredients however is the broken cell wall organic chlorella powder. I wrote about this hack in my blog post here entitled hangover helpers for women over 40. It truly seems unfair that even though we all now women age like fine wine, it becomes harder and harder for us to drink the damn wine post 40:) I hear from so many of my 40+ clients how even one glass of red wine leaves them feeling a bit less than.

So next time you’ve maybe had a few too many, drink this hangover smoothie and you will be right as rain sooner rather than later!

The Whys

Coconut Water: One reason for the hungover feeling is that your body is dehydrated. Unsweetened coconut water will help replace some fluid and electrolytes.

Spinach: A nutrition powerhouse. Full of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals.

Lemon: Provides vitamins, but also aids in detoxification and digestion partly by tricking your liver into producing more bile (what we need to dissolve fat).

Avocado: The monounsaturated fats in Avocados not only produce satiety (keeps you feeling full longer) but is great for heart health and contain high amounts of vitamins and potassium.

Mango: 20 different vitamins and minerals, mangos contain flavonoids which help vitamin A to impart antioxidant strength.

Ginger: Famous for its help with gastrointestinal relief but also contains great anti-inflammatory compounds called gingerols.

Hemp seeds: One of the few plant sources that are a complete protein. Other benefits include weight loss, increased and sustained energy, rapid recovery, lower cholesterol, reduced inflammation, natural blood sugar control among others.

Raw Honey: It contains natural antioxidants, enzymes and minerals including iron, zinc, potassium, calcium, phosphorous, magnesium and selenium.

Chlorella: An excellent detoxifier of heavy metals and toxins.
