Oh Lordy, this one is soooo good! Could definitely be a dessert but has no added sugar! I love this Hormone Balancing Salted Carmel Smoothie post a tough Friday workout as a treat for making it to that last intense workout of the week! I typically do HIIT training 3 days a week M, W, and Friday. By Friday I’m just glad I’ve made it. Tuesdays are reserved for a walk with a friend and tennis, and Thursdays are running with my sister and core strength. Saturdays are long walks with my husband and Sundays are either yoga or another long walk. This schedule is so different from my forties when I used to pretty much kill myself daily. Not only was that not doing me any good, it probably made my autoimmune symptoms worse. Too much exercise is a real thing, especially for peri-menopausal women.
Why is this smoothie hormone balancing?
Maca is a must in this recipe as it not only adds to the Carmel flavor but Maca stimulates the endocrine system helping to maintain hormonal balance. It is not a phytoestrogen like soy or flax but acts more as an adaptogen to regulate estrogen levels. This is great for all my peri-menopausal and post-menopausal females!
