Homemade Almond Milk is surprisingly easy to make. We’ve made it a part of our weekly routine! Once you get the hang of it, you’ll never buy almond milk at the store again!

You will need a few things before you start making your homemade almond milk, including a high-powered blender, a nut milk bag, and a container to store the milk.  I like to store my milk in this glass pitcher that costs less than $20.

When I first started making my own almond milk about 2 years ago my daughters and I used to laugh at the endless nut jokes when going through this process of soaking and squeezing the nuts through the nut sack, so have fun with the process and bring out your inner 5-year-old boy!

Homemade Almond Milk Recipe

Homemade Almond Milk

This process to make homemade almond milk may seem like a lot, but just like anything once you’ve done it a few times it’s easy, and you won’t go back to boxed milk after tasting the difference. It’s rich, creamy, and worth every minute.
Course: Drinks
Servings: 2 liters
Author: DeeDee Mehren

Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups Raw Almonds Soaked overnight
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract or 1 vanilla bean
  • ¼ tsp Ceylon Cinnamon
  • 1 pinch Sea Salt Optional
  • 1 Pitted Date Optional – for added sweetness
  • 6 cups Filtered Water

Instructions

  • Soak the RAW almonds for 6-24 hours in the fridge in filtered water.
  • Rinse the almonds in a strainer and then add almonds, cinnamon, vanilla, sea salt and water to blender and blend for one min.
  • Place your nut milk bag in the milk pitcher and slowly pour the contents through the bag into the pitcher. You will then have to squeeze all the remaining liquid from the bag into the pitcher. This does require some manual labor but it’s worth it.
  • I then top off the jug with more water (maybe an additional ½ cup to a cup), but you can play with this depending on how thick you like your milk. I usually get about 2 liters of homemade almond milk through this process.

Bonus! How to make Almond Flour

After you’re done making homemade almond milk, you will have a bag full of leftover almond pulp. Don’t throw it away! Almonds are expensive and almond flour can be used in so many recipes.

To make your own almond flour, take the pulp out of the nut bag and place it on parchment paper lined baking sheet.

Dehydrate the pulp in a low oven set at 175 for two hours.

When it’s complete it should feel dry and crumbly to the touch.

Throw it in your food processor to turn it into almond flour!

The flour should be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container until you are ready to use it.
